Value Soundtrack

by P.T. McNiff

I try to sing along, but the words come out all wrong. They got you thinkin’ that what you need is what they sellin’. There’s a lot of people sayin’ we’d be better off dead; keep your eyes on the road you might be able to drive. Why settle for a common man when you could have a king? But the highway up to heaven got a crook on the toll. I see the white teeth and suntan with nobody inside. Now that I can hear, your song sounds cheap—and your eyes, they say nothing, so you can’t stop me. One good day of the week and I’ll be up again. And that’s not saying much, but I’m not saying much today.
