Acquired Taste
Posted by Andrea BenvenutoSo it turns out that the day after wisdom teeth surgery is the perfect time to watch a whole slew of music videos and pretend you’re in high school again. If you don’t have cable (or, really, even if you do), Sub Pop’s Acquired Taste DVD will bring back those days…remember?…when you thought MTV was good.
There’s a little bit of everything here, from The Shins’ delightfully low-budget “New Slang,” directed by Lance Bangs, to The Postal Service’s decidedly fancier videos for “Such Great Heights” and “We Will Become Silhouettes”—although The Postal Service has been featured in so many Grey’s Anatomy commercials it’s really nothing new to hear their music from your TV speakers.
We also get two vids each from Sleater-Kinney and Iron & Wine, plus Mudhoney’s absolute latest and clips from The Thermals, Hot Hot Heat and The Album Leaf, among others. It’s pretty good collection of stuff you probably haven’t seen.
Oh yeah, and PS: The easily nauseated would be wise to skip Ugly Casanova’s previously unaired craptastic video for Things I Don’t Remember. Trust me.
