Lit-lovin’ 9-to-5-ers should make a special effort to get out of work early tomorrow. Hot young author Marisha Pessl will read from her debut literary mystery novel at the Ballard branch of Seattle Public Library from 5 to 6 p.m., and evidence indicates you’ll want to show up on time for a seat. As of Friday afternoon, 280 Seattleites were on the library’s waiting list to borrow the book. Guess the $25.95 cover price is just too steep to risk on a first-timer.

Pessl will make stops in San Francisco and L.A. in the days following her Seattle appearance.
