Country at the Croc
Posted by Ali MarcusLast night at the Crocodile there were three very good bands. There’s a more artful way to say it and had I had one less martini I might now be able to come up with one. Anyways, the Trainwreck Riders, Langhorne Slim, and Two Gallants made for a fantastic evening. All three of the bands are sorta country, and I say “sorta” instead of “a little bit” or even ”sort of” because “sorta” seems to fit them all better , like it’s the way that the guys themselves would describe their music.
Grainy, Honky, and Punky, respectively. Take your pick. Grainy and Punky, naturally, are friends; they have played together a long time, both from San Francisco. Honky is from Brooklyn, and much more of a big city type than the others. Honky and Punky both have great futures ahead of them, while Grainy I think has a way to go.
That might be hard to follow. At any rate, Rivet doesn’t frequently champion country music, but it’s going to start, especially when there’s music like this to shout about. Investigate their websites a little bit, hear the music. It’s Friday, folks, you don’t really need to be focusing on work.
That’s the official concert review. Now see what I really think.
