From the folks who produce I Heart Rummage comes a holiday shopping experience like no other in Seattle — Urban Craft Uprising’s two-day event at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall will feature more than 100 merchants offering handmade jewelry, clothing, bags, craft kits, soaps, and more.

“If you’re looking for a unique holiday gift this season, we’ll have it,” says UCU PR director Marisa Mouton.

Four thousand people showed up in 2005, and this year’s event should draw at least that many with free swag bags for the first 100 people through the doors, giveaways every hour and a fashion show featuring the designs of participating vendors. It all happens Dec. 2 & 3 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Fashion show at 2:30 Saturday.) Admission is free!

[UPDATE, Saturday Dec. 2: I just got back from day one of Urban Craft Uprising, where I spent $62 on goodies from Pied Nu, Domestic Bias, and Estrella Soap. Lots of great stuff to choose from, and what a happy atmosphere! The sound system was blasting Bikini Kill and Belle and Sebastian while a nice crowd browsed the booths. You still have time to go!]
