Soundtrack: Are You Not Made of Secrets?
by Ryan Trager
Being alone can be quite romantic—
Stirring condiments into my tea
My hands on fire
Not speaking a word
Yet rambling on self-consciously
Going to depths
Where the sun’s never shown
Secret compartments hide
All of these skeletons
They suffer loneliness
Long for light
I fascinate myself when I’m alone
So I go a little overboard
Airbrushing fantasies on my life
Are you not made of secrets?
When doors forced open are shut again
A flytrap and a petal
When dreams made real become less sweet
The orchid and the metal
And in the morning
I fall in love with the light
It is so clear
Here at last I have my eyes
I’m taking my song to the grave
