Submission Guidelines

Please note that the e-mail addresses below are modified to thwart spammers. Please use them in the usual format.

Deadlines
We are currently accepting submissions for The RIGHT Issue through May 20, 2008. For information on what and how to submit, please read the guidelines below.

Art Submissions
RIVET accepts art submissions in photography and graphic art (such as painting, illustration, comics and prints). If you would like to submit an image or join Rivet’s staff artists, please send your resume and relevant images to our art director at allie-at-rivetmagazine.org.

Written Submissions
RIVET accepts written content in all forms. Please note, however, that we publish a very limited quantity of poetry and all submissions must relate to an upcoming issue’s theme. If you would like to submit an essay, story or poem, please send it with your resume to editor-at-rivetmagazine.org via e-mail only. The RIVET staff regrets that it cannot respond to every submission, due to the high volume of mail received.

Blog Submissions
RIVET is always looking for people who want to submit original writing or art (or both!) for our blog. The blog is the perfect introduction to the world of RIVET—we get to know your work and you get a feel for how we operate. If you’ve ever wanted to publish something non-traditional (length-wise, content-wise, etc.) and didn’t know where to find a venue, this is the place to start. Additionally, current events, wacky topics, and pieces on local, independent culture (no matter the city) are always welcome. Please send all blog submissions to ali-at-rivetmagazine.org.

Article Pitches
RIVET encourages article pitches in addition to submissions. If you have an idea for an article in one of our upcoming issues, please send an e-mail to editor-at-rivetmagazine.org explaining your idea, along with your resume and related clips or writing samples. All accepted pitches will be collaboratively developed with RIVET’s senior editors, and all writers will be required to complete a draft, a rewrite and a polish of their work.

Written Assignments
If you would like to join RIVET’s staff writers, please send a cover letter, resume and relevant clips or writing samples to editor-at-rivetmagazine.org.
